ACTIVITY 1

An Informative testimonial on how I celebrate Christmas season considering the following:
       a. Brief Historical background of Christmas
       b. Personal experiences
       c. Lessons learned
       d. Unforgettable moment

"Christmas", a single word but a very symbolic and significant for a lot of people around the globe. A word that every time we heard, the things given by our thought and connected tongue are Christ, Santa Claus, cold season or winter, love, gifts, holidays and a lot more. A lot of things we may adhere during Christmas season. But, what was really Christmas is all about?

  • Christmas is the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ.
  • Once, in England, this season is called "Yule" which means midwinter.
  • The word Christmas was not used until the 11th century.
  • Our modern Christmas really began in the 19th century where people already decorated their houses.
Ordinary people like us have an ordinary way in celebrating and preparing the advent season. Honestly, as the Christmas season came, I didn't feel its essence in my surroundings, in my environment and even in my own home. I don't know? If it is because my eyes couldn't see the dancing of christmas light or couldn't decorate and touch a christmas tree or couldn't taste a delicious ham and cheese balls on our little table........ or maybe I couldn't still find the true meaning of Christmas.

Those previous statement which I stated above were truly my perspective on the past few years of my Christmas holiday. Until one day, a cold voice came from a white-cloth man standing in front of us,sermon and addressing his homily entered his statement in my deaf ear and cold heart said, " Christmas is not all about material things or obligation to give to others, to love others or to attend masses, we can give to anyone in anytime, we can give love everyday if our heart wanted it. Like in attending mass today, presence is important than present." A very short sentences but awoke and enlightened the heart of every individual who discover the hidden meaning of those words. A very short talk but the lesson, idea, learning and wisdom may serve as your guide and direction in your lives.

My unforgettable moment with this holiday season was during my childhood days. When I was a Grade 6 pupil. That was my happiest Christmas celebration because as my young thought, i already knew the importance of family and during that day, I saw my two brothers, two sisters, my beloved mother and my father eating our very simple Noche Buena but the love of everyone was enough to fed the empty and hungry soul of each one. That was my unforgettable moment because that was the last time my eyes captured a complete family, eating together and sharing together in a small but strong table of a place called "home".

ACTIVITY 2

Based on the conceptual models of learning, write an article that would pay tribute to celebration on December 30 and what influences did this bring forth to you as a Filipino and as NVCian.

December 30, a date where the people of the Philippine country join hand in hand in the celebration of our National hero's martyrdom, no other than, Dr. Jose Protacio Rizal. A name that although a cute little kid knows. This is the date when all National flags shall be hoisted at half-mast.
We celebrated his death anniversary which is not favorable to others because the Rizal Day should held during June 19, his birthday. But several believes that we commemorate Dr. Jose Rizal on December 30 not to remember his execution at Bagumbayan field but to arose the nationalistic thought of every Filipino.

This event is very meaningful to every Filipino who really knows the depth meaning of patriotism. It is because as we studied the history of the Philippines, the life of Rizal, its sacrifices and martyrdom, it brings the Filipinos together. After we learned his contribution to our freedom, we appreciate our blood as Filipino and the importance of unity.

  • But if we studied the history of the Philippines during his time, we will discovered that he was not really the one who bring freedom in our country.
  • We will discovered that his action was only to bring changes in the unjustice society ruled by Spanish people but not to bring independence in our country.
  • But on the other hand, we will discovered that he uses his pen, wisdom and brain to fight againsts the colonizer but not his strength and aggressiveness.
  • We will discovered that his weapon is only his book which is more powerful than swords and any riffle.

After we knew his story,I know, we have different perspective and point of view based on the information of his life. But for me, although he was not the one who bring independence in our country, his pen and book served as a trigger factor and a force that pushes every Filipino to arose their true identity, rights and power againsts the Spanish rule and fight for our freedom (One of them was Andres Bonifacio).

Dr. Jose Rizal, as a human, Filipino and a hero have a big impact for us as his fellowmen, for us as a student, as an NVCian. He is the one who open the door for the union of Filipino and pour not only our brain but also our heart with love of country and appreciation of our freedom and independence.

 ACTIVITY 3

What memory can you create on January 1, 2015? Following the conceptual models of learning, formulate something that could generate and construct a worthy celebration for this occasion that will address this question- Who would you be come 2015?

New Year is the day where everybody is busy in the preparation of different superstitious beliefs. This is the most powerful event of the year because some believe that what you've done, you've prepared and your situation in the first day of the year would be your life in the whole year.( I think so)

On this past few days, we welcomed the year of 2015. My New Year this time was very enjoyable compared to the previous years.

  • Although we were not complete in the family, I still put a smile on my face when I saw the different colors of fireworks of our neighbors.(That was not ours, I didn't assume, just enjoy the show)
  • I enjoy the noisy "cling and clang" sounds I made on our casserole.
  • I was happy everytime I heard  innocent voices of my nieces and nephews  giving their lovely and simple greetings of "Happy New Year".

 MEANINGFUL:
  1. This occasion is very meaningful because we recall our past experiences, mistakes and life which would be our basis to create a good New Year Resolution.
  2. This occasion helps us to reflect our selves and prepared to become a better one and have a better life for this year.

DISCOVERY:
  1.  This celebration helped us to discover our wrongs and weaknesses that may improved for this year.
  2. This celebration also discovered our strength to maintain or better to improve, goals to pursue and plan as guide.

GENERATING:
  1. New Year is the time when we recall our past experiences on the previous year.
  2. New year is the day where anyone create meaning on their life if these are purposeful, successful or failure.

 CONSTRUCTING:
  1. This is the moment when we truly gave time to understand ourselves and construct or made decisions.
  2.  This is the moment when we feel our purpose, role and what we really become and our plan for this coming 2015.
